The Tracing Program within the frame of ARCS started in1997 (1376) after the International Committee of the Red Cross opened its main delegation in Kabul that the structure of tracing was integrated within the frame of each ARCS provincial branches which the program covers the following activities
Family Red Crescent Messages
Through this activity the ARCS tracing staff at the level of Head Quarter and provincial branches distributes and collects messages from and to the detainees and displaced families with cooperation of the ICRC in country-wide.
Tracing Request
This activity is carried out by special form called tracing request, which is in conformity with the policy of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The form is filled by the ARCS tracing staff at the level of HQ and provincial branches and is submitted to International Committee of the Red Cross or by the internet site of the tracing office. The replies are collected via the post, internet site or by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Transfer of documents
The tracing office of Afghan Red Crescent Society in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross submits the documents like ID card, passport, education document. License and deed to all countries, which there are National Societies.
The collection of arrest allegations
Using the allegation arrest form, the tracing unit of Afghan Red Crescent Society looks for the people in the prisons and detention centres who are arrested by the security forces and ensure their contacts with their families. In cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, it also ensure the basic needs of the prisoners and pays the fare of transportation for those who are released from the prison.
Release Confirmation
With the cooperation of International Committee of the Red Cross, the ARCS tracing department as its responsibility follow up the process of a fieled "Release Confirmation Form" until to get assurance that the released prisoners have rejoined their families.
RCMs Numbers (quantity)
From the beginning of the establishment of this programme, the tracing staff at the level of country have distributed and collected thousands (RCMs) from and to the families, relatives, refugees, displaced people and prisoners.
Tracing activities at the provinces
Afghan Red Crescent Society is a neutral national aid organization so therefore, the ARCS tracing activities are carried out at the level of provincial branches by one tracing in charge based in each ARCS branch.
Mine Awareness Program
One of the very important field of work of Afghan Red Crescent Society is; the Mine Awareness Programme and unexploded munitions of war which the trainers in this field train the people in the villages and small towns of the country about the probable dangers of the mines by conducting courses and distributing the informative materials to reduce the mortality and mine incidents. Presenting the information by the trainers on the dangers of mine to the children and youth of the villages Great number of mines and scattered unexploded munitions are left from the years of war and hostilities around the territory of Afghanistan and for the present time, Afghanistan is among the countries, which is greatly contaminated with mines. 25 The National Society awareness programme of mines dangers and remains of unexploded munitions of war began from the central provinces and in the course of time, it has been expanded to the northern, eastern, western, south-western, south-eastern and north-eastern provinces. Out of 34 provinces, the network of Mine Risk Education with the financial support of International Committee of the Red Cross has been created in 32 provinces. Now this activity along with distributing the dissemination materials such as magazines, leaflets, brochures and silk screens is going on which is of good and productive results. Presenting information by the trainers on the dangers of the mine to the children and youth in the villages Mine Risk Education at the level of the villages and small towns contaminated by mine and unexploded munitions are carried out for both male and female children at schools and also for the adults.
