History of Afghan Red Crescent Society Foundation The Afghan Red Crescent Society was founded on 9th April 1934. The constitutions of Society become effective in October 1954. Recognition The Afghan Red Crescent was recognized as a Voluntary aid Society auxiliary to the public authorities by the Royal Decree No.36935926 date December 12th 1956. After satisfaction of ten conditions for recognition, the society submitted request for recognition to the international committee of Red Cross on 2nd September 1954, The Afghan Red Crescent Society was recognized by international committee of Red Cross. Purpose The Afghan Red Crescent Society is a legally constituted association. It possesses legal status. Its activates are based on priding of Humanitarian Ideas among the people and the practical work of preventing and alleviating the suffering of the peoples. The Society started its works properly and continues its task in conformity with the Red Cross Principals and IHL, Revision of constitution. The Afghan Red Crescent Society's constitution had been revised in Purpose of Harmonizing and Recognizing of the Philanthropic and Humanitarian activities of the Society with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement's aims Objectives and National Circumstance of the Country. The Constitution which was adopted by the General Assembly of the ARCS and Endorsed by the Patron (the President of Republic of Afghanistan) on July 1st 1989. The objective In order to mention the tents of Impartiality, Racial, Religious and Economic Independence the Society Operates according to the lofty aims, Ideals and fundamental Principles of the Cross and Red Crescent Movement and its autonomy, Neutrality and Impartiality is requested in all Circumstances. In view of the Characteristics the Afghan Red Crescent Society is involved in the following aspects. Prevention, alleviation of Human being suffering impartially and without Discrimination as Recoil, Sex, Religious and class. Participating in the Prevention of Diseases, Improvement of the public health in purpose of Mitigation of human suffering according to the possibilities. Providing of emergency relief for victim of disasters. Encouragement of the children and adolescents towards the tasks of Red Cross and Red Crescent Movements and their actively engagement in various activities of Red Crescent. Dissemination of the Red Cross fundamental Principles and of international Humanitarian law amongst all population. Recruitment and training of Volunteer and Youth Members for accomplishment of their Humanitarian obligations.
